About Us

We grow seed garlic 3 miles from the ocean in Santa Cruz, California. Our strains are adapted to the central west coast. There is a dampness from the ocean air that brings a largely unseen challenge to most growers: the garlic rust. Our growing situation is unique, some of the practices and varieties that our fellow northern cold climate farms use don’t work so well here. We test garlic varieties right here to bring you the ones that can thrive in mild warm weather coastal gardens and farms. Freshly planted in 2026, our business strives to make it easier for ocean influenced growers to cultivate uniquely beautiful and delicious garlic.

We cultivate with organic and regenerative practices - using cover crops, long crop rotations, intercropping with mature fruit trees, all without any pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. We amend with compost, blood meal, feather meal, bone meal, alfalfa meal, and a bit of gypsum and langbeinite. The garlic beds are mulched with straw to protect the soil. We are agroecology enthusiasts invested in our soil and communities.

This harvest of Red Sulmona was so successful, the bulbs of this Creole type did so well in the central west coast despite some infection with garlic rust. As we continue replanting in Santa Cruz the strain will continue to adapt to local conditions.
